1. Acceptance of these terms

By using SimpleDocTools.com (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. We may update these terms occasionally; continued use means you accept the updated version.

2. The Service is free

SimpleDocTools is provided free of charge. There are no subscriptions, no premium tiers, no hidden fees, and no requirement to create an account. We may someday add optional ways to support the project (like donations), but the core templates and features will always remain free.

3. You own your content

Anything you create with SimpleDocTools — resumes, invoices, budgets, cover letters, or any other document — is your content. You own it completely. We don't claim any rights to it. We don't see it, store it, or share it (see our Privacy Policy for full details).

4. Use the Service responsibly

When using SimpleDocTools, please don't:

• Try to break, hack, overload, or interfere with the Service or its security
• Use the Service to create documents that are fraudulent, defamatory, harassing, or illegal
• Reverse-engineer or republish our templates as your own paid product without permission
• Use automated scripts or bots to scrape or abuse the Service
• Misrepresent yourself or impersonate others in documents you create

We reserve the right to block users who violate these terms, though this is rare given our privacy-first approach (we have very little data about who is using the site).

5. Templates and accuracy

Our templates are provided as helpful starting points. They are not legal, financial, or professional advice. You're responsible for the accuracy of everything you put into a template — whether it's a resume, an invoice, a budget, or a cover letter. If you need legal or financial guidance, please consult a qualified professional.

6. No warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We don't guarantee that:

• The Service will be available at all times or free from interruption
• The Service will be free from errors, bugs, or security vulnerabilities
• The templates will be accepted by any specific employer, client, or institution
• Generated PDFs will look identical across every device and printer

We do our best to keep the Service running smoothly, but we can't promise perfection.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SimpleDocTools and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service. This includes (but isn't limited to):

• Lost job opportunities from a resume created with our templates
• Unpaid invoices, business losses, or financial decisions
• Lost data due to browser issues or accidental deletion
• Any harm arising from third-party services we use (like Google Fonts, Netlify, or Cloudflare CDN)

Since the Service is free, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us — which is zero.

8. Third-party services

SimpleDocTools uses certain third-party services to operate:

• Netlify for hosting
• Google Fonts for typography
• Cloudflare CDN for JavaScript libraries (html2pdf, JSZip)
• Formspree for handling the feedback form
• Google Analytics for anonymous usage stats

Each of these has its own terms and privacy policies, which apply to your use of those parts of the Service. We're not responsible for their conduct.

9. Intellectual property

The SimpleDocTools name, logo, design, code, and template designs are owned by us. You may use them as part of the Service to create your own documents, but you may not copy, redistribute, or sell our templates, code, or branding as your own.

10. Changes to the Service

We may add, change, or remove features at any time without notice. We try to make changes that improve the Service, but sometimes we have to remove things that aren't sustainable or that don't fit the product anymore.

11. Termination

You can stop using SimpleDocTools anytime — just close the tab. There's no account to delete because we never created one for you. We may suspend or terminate access for users who violate these terms or attempt to harm the Service.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Maryland.
